1979年,理查德出生于南澳洲的伦马克,是安戈瓦家族的第五代庄主。其父亲约翰是该公司的主席和常务董事,姐姐维多利亚也在该公司中担任职务。

理查德在成长的过程中耳闻目睹了家族事业的日益发展,就学期间,为了给自己多挣些零用钱理查德也时常利用假期在酒庄打工,比如做些酒窖的反复清洁、出口集装箱打包、以及装瓶之类的工作。

尽管理查德起初对酿酒业并无太大兴趣,但在获得工商管理市场营销学学位后,他仍利用大学放假的时间奔波于酒庄、实验室和葡萄园间。在紧张的 毕业旅行之后,理查德在安戈瓦的酒窖里整整忙碌了一年,就是从那时开始,激起了他对酿酒的激情。2003年,理查德荣获了阿德莱德大学的酿酒学硕士学位。

具备酿酒师资质后,理查德离开南澳,前往世界各地的葡萄酒产区实地考察。他曾在澳洲猎人谷朽木酒园陆续工作过几年负责北半球市场的年份交替工作,后又远赴 加州纳帕谷、西班牙博颂酒庄、加拿大奥克那根谷杰克逊瑞格圆任职。为了能够更详尽的了解澳大利亚各葡萄酒产区,并体验不同酒庄的运营模式,理查德先后在维 多利亚的布朗兄弟和麦克菲森酒业,及塔斯曼尼亚的泰玛山酒庄担任酿酒师。

2008年, 他重返家族企业,任职于市场部。现任市场总监,负责与安戈瓦家族迈拉伦酒窖相关的直销业务及在国内外市场进行安戈瓦的品牌宣传工作。

理查德热衷于尝试不同的酿酒风格及葡萄品种,也对来自世界各地的葡萄酒颇感兴趣。婚后,他与妻子唐娅住在阿德莱德市,距安戈瓦销售部办公室仅一步之遥。

理查德曾是2007年澳洲葡萄酒研究中心高级评酒班高才生,担任过阿德莱德皇家酒展、维多利亚酒展、澳大利亚西拉挑战赛的评委。

理查德也是一位烹饪大师,尤其擅长意大利美食的烹制。同时,他还是一位钟爱户外运动的健将,喜欢高尔夫、啤酒、澳大利亚足球、扑克牌、海滩及麦拉伦西拉葡萄酒。

Richard was born in Renmark, South Australia in 1979 and is a member of the fifth generation of the Angove winemaking family.  Richard’s father John is the Chairman and Managing Director of the company and his elder sister Victoria is also involved in the business.

Having grown up living literally down the road from the family business it was inevitable that school holidays were spent earning some extra spending money working in the winery. This work was usually cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning in the cellar or packing export containers and working on the bottling line.

Whilst not immediately interested in the wine industry, Richard completed a degree in Business Management focussing on Marketing and during University holidays continued to work in the Winery, Laboratory as well as the Vineyard. Following extensive travel, Richard completed a full vintage in the cellar at the Angove winery and it was here where his passion for winemaking began.  Richard enrolled in a Post Graduate Diploma in Winemaking (Oenology) at Adelaide University, completing this in 2003.

With his winemaking qualifications achieved, Richard left South Australia to gain experience in as many different wine regions in the world with no real plan to return. Richard worked at Brokenwood in the Hunter Valley alternating vintages in the Northern Hemisphere. This saw him work at Domaine Carneros in the Napa Valley, California, Bodega Borsao in Spain and Jackson Triggs in the Okanagan Valley, Canada. Wanting to work in a number of different Australian regions and experience different size winery operations, Richard continued to travel, working as a winemaker at Brown Brothers and McPherson Wines in Victoria and Tamar Ridge in Tasmania.

In 2008 he returned to work for the family business in the Marketing department and is currently a director and responsible for establishing the Direct Sales business associated with the new Angove McLaren Vale Cellar Door and supporting the Angove Brand in domestic and export markets.

Richard is an enthusiast for experimenting with different styles and varieties and is interested in wines from all around the world. He is married to Tanya and lives in Adelaide, a stone’s through from the Angove Sales Office.

Richard was the top student at the 2007 AWRI Advanced Wine Assessment Course and has judged at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show, The Victorian Wine Show and the Great Australian Shiraz Challenge.

Richard is an avid cook, in particular Italian food, he loves the outdoors, golf, a beer, football (Australia rules), poker, the beach and McLaren Vale Shiraz.
